Rob Houdijk
This contemporary impressionist is also referred to as the new ‘Isaac Israels’. Rob Houdijk started his career making fine art portraits mainly of children. For a portrait to be resembling the essence of a person needs to be ‘caught’. The movability of his young models challenged him to capture their main features rapidly on paper.
This resulted in his very own classic impressionistic signature. This swift impressionistic style can be found back in his bronze statues as well. His style of work reflects movement caught in the moment.
Rob Houdijk is currently fascinated with interaction between people or animals in their environment.
He prefers working plein-air, where interaction takes place, but usually gives a finishing touch to his works in his studio.
